Senior Communications Officer (Public Health) – South West London – £400 Contract

A highly reputable organisation that is based in South West London is currently hiring a Senior Communications Officer has experience engaging with health partners on a national scale. This an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on the nation’s current health crisis on a flexible working contract.

This will be a 3 6 month contract inside IR 35 paying between £350 – £400 P/D. The chosen Senior Communications Officer must have local government exposure and have worked within SIC. Our client, has won awards for their promotion of flexible working / work from home policies.
The Senior Communications Officer will effectively work alongside the Communications Managers reporting into the Head of Communications on a rolling contract.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • To act as the lead communications & engagement officer for the Council’s Covid-19 Outbreak Control Plan;
  • To develop and deliver a detailed communications plan for the OCP covering both universal promotion to residents & businesses through the council’s core channels, as well as bespoke engagement with stakeholder and community groups to raise awareness;
  • To prepare any contingency materials and communications required for individual high-risk outbreak settings;
  • To act as the engagement link between the council and its health partners (SWL NHS, local NHS Trusts & Public Health England)

Extensive knowledge of the following:

  • Strategic focus on delivering outcomes through communications & engagement
  • Strong understanding of the Council’s role in the prevention of Covid-19 outbreaks;
  • Previous experience working within the public sector (ideally a local borough or council)
  • Ability to craft accessible narratives for different stakeholder audiences
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Ability to manage design & production of engaging content across different channels (video, web, digital, social)
  • Stakeholder engagement/relationship management skills
