Safeguarding In Schools Officer – Contract – £450/£500

Company:
• A leading organisation that is owned by the government and that has won awards for its work life balance policy is currently hiring a Safeguarding in Schools Officer on a contract basis for 6 months (rolling).
• This is a strategic role that will build on existing operational relationships to further develop robust safeguarding pathways between education establishments in the borough and Children’s Social Care and the LADO service.
• The chosen individual must have knowledge of local government, the Children’s Act 2004 and direct exposure to the Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards.

Role Overview:
• To maintain and develop pathways for provision of safeguarding advice to education safeguarding leads and head teachers.
• To further develop support systems for safeguarding leads in education and head teachers
• To deliver training for Designated Safeguarding Leads, and to lead regular forums for school safeguarding leads.
• To evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding in education, including by working with other LA officers to carry out reviews of safeguarding processes in schools
• To facilitate relationships and develop appropriate challenge between Children’s Social Care and education establishments.
• To promote a thorough understanding of thresholds for intervention across the London Continuum of Need.
• To lead on the development of school safeguarding audits.
• To ensure that learning from audit is translated into workforce learning.
• To lead on the development of model safeguarding and child protection policies for schools.
• To work with the LADO to facilitate timely reporting and investigation of appropriate concerns about adult safeguarding conduct in education establishments.
• To provide support to MSCP sub-committees as required.

Experience:
• Knowledge of child maltreatment and appropriate professional responses.
• Sound knowledge of inspection requirements for child protection and looked after children.
• Sound knowledge of the role and business of Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards.
• Experience of providing safeguarding advice and challenge to senior leaders in primary, secondary and further education settings standing.
• Experience of working with allegations against trusted adults working with children.
• Experience of carrying out audits of safeguarding practice in education
• Experience of producing high quality reports using qualitative and quantitative data.

Rate: £450 – £500 (Inside IR35) – per day on a 6 month rolling contract / 35-hour week 9am – 5pm.
